For those of you who wish to repair bad credit and raise your credit scores, you have no doubt heard the term cpn number. Credit repair companies have often told potential clients that obtaining this number will allow them to wipe out their bad credit. But exactly what is a cpn number ? you ask. A cpn number stands for credit privacy number this is a number that you list on loan applications for potential loans in place of your social security number. Credit repair companies will obtain this number for you then tell you to go out and obtain new credit under this number this will result in you establishing a new credit file with a positive payment history. Like magic your bad credit is wiped out for god and you will soon have good credit. Credit repair companies will even sell you seasoned trade lines that they add to your credit reports then report the tradelines to all three credit bureaus. This is fraud never ever do this as it could land you in jail
Anytime you use a number on any loan or credit card application that is not your social security number this is fraud. Having fake tradelines reported to credit bureaus is also illegal. Remember repairing bad credit the right way is the only way to go. Dispute all negative items you find on your credit reports. Sending debt validation letters requesting proof of the debt and utilizing small claims court are the best way to repair bad credit. Whenever clients ask me What is a cpn number? I explain what it is and advise them against it. It takes time patience and hard work to repair bad credit but it is well worth it in the long run. Also using a cpn number and creating a new credit file will not erase bad credit you will still have bad credit it just wont appear on your new file.
